Night School has just about everything I love in a good escape.
Mystery, intrigue, excitement. I loved the atmosphere!

When Allie gets arrested, her parents decide that they are unable to deal with her self-destructive behaviour anymore and send her to boarding school – Cimmeria Academy. Allie was all for hating every second of her stay, but the school seemed to settle her in a way that she finally feels happy. Also all forms of technology are banned, the classes are beyond hard, and the students know everything about each other. She discovers there's a secret society of sorts within the school - called Night School.
When a student is brutally murdered, Allie is determined to find out what the academy is hiding and whether the murder has anything to do with Night School.

I would definitely recommend this book, and series.

I adored this book! Absolutely gripping and wonderful.
Fablehaven is a fascinating place, brought to life vividly by Brandon Mull.

Kendra and Seth have been shipped off to stay with their dad's parents, the grandparents they barely know. They think will be boring beyond belief... but they couldn't be more wrong! Kendra is given a challenge - some keys, what do they unlock? Seth, bold and mischievous, turns all of Fablehaven upside down with his recklessness and bravado.
Because of Seth's exploits, Kendra and Seth must work together to save their family and this magical place.

Highly, highly recommended for adventurous readers who are prepared to overlook Seth and his stupidity.

The Named #3

Ethan lives a secret life as a Guardian of the Named. Under the guidance of Arkarian, his mentor, and with the help of Isabel, his unlikely but highly capable apprentice, Ethan has become a valued member of this other-worldly corps. As the only defense against the evil Order of Chaos, the Named travel through time to prevent the Order from altering history and thereby gaining power in the present and the future.

As the threat from the Order intensifies, secrets of the past are revealed and villains and heroes are exposed. This gripping fantasy is set in modern times, but is infused with intrigue from the past, super-natural characters and surprising plot twists. Curley has written a winner through to the end.

This book was fantastic!

I love the time travel! Going back in time to make sure all goes as
planned. I still love the series now, and read them every so often.

Ethan, one of the two main characters, has magical abilities. For example, he has powers such as moving objects without touching them. He is a part of The Guard, a group of magically gifted people who go back in time to keep history in check. His life changes when Arkarian (his mentor) gives him an important mission. With the help of his new apprentice, Isabel, Ethan must travel hundreds of years into the past and stop the antagonists, The Order, from destroying history.

The author writes through both Ethan’s and Isabel’s eyes and it’s really interesting to see how differently each character thinks and speaks.
If you're a fan of history, the books are especially appealing. "The Named" is a great time travel book: exciting, magical, historical, and had a bit of romance.
